Influence of Cement Treatment on Surface Deformation of Quarry Waste Bases Over Weak Subgrade
Quarries produce large amount of fines while crushing limestone aggregates, the fines produced can be used as a base course material for highway construction. This study is planned to present the effect of cement treatment on quarry waste bases. The parameters investigated in this study included percentage of cement and thickness of base course. The experimental results show that cement treatment decreases the surface deformation of the pavement. Treated and untreated test sections were investigated under static loading. Subgrade used in this study was dredged soil form Dal lake having CBR, 5. The cement treatment increases the bearing capacity improvement factor by 68, 39, and 69% in case of 150, 170, and 200 mm thick base respectively. The overall findings showed that the cement stabilization improved the performance of quarry waste bases, makes it reusable for pavement construction.
