A tribute to Philip Barnett Bucky (1899–1957)
Father of centrifuge modeling in geomechanics
Abstract The late Prof. Philip B. Bucky is recognized as a pioneer in centrifuge modeling (e.g., Cheney, Centrifuges in soil mechanics, Balkema: The Netherlands 1988). This tribute is prepared in his memorial for the technique that he proposed, which has now gone well beyond his imagination in the areas of application. A list containing Bucky’s major papers on centrifuge modeling is included in the references.
