Importance of Timely Assessment of the Technical Condition of Hydraulic Structures to Ensure Their Failure-Free Operation
The significant expansion of Moscow resulted in an increase in the number of miscellaneous city water bodies and necessitated their urgent survey and inventory of their hydraulic structures. It was required to thoroughly assess the technical condition of hydraulic structures, to typify main structures, and to identify their functional features. To accomplish these tasks, full-scale expedition inspection were undertaken, using the available cartographic and technical documentation. During the inspection, the condition of the hydraulic structures located within the limits of New Moscow was analyzed. Their operating conditions were analyzed, and their level of safety was assessed. Hydraulic structures with expired service life were identified. The inspection of hydraulic structures revealed that most of them do not have owners and are not operated, which necessitated ensuring the safety of these structures and deciding on their future. It is shown that it is necessary to develop a plan of measures to ensure the safety of the hydraulic structures without registered ownership.
