A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Shot-Earth: A Material for Structural Engineering
Shot-earth is a new class of sustainable materials that can be used to build civil engineering structures. To convince practitioners to use a new construction material—ecological or not—a number of challenges need to be addressed. One of these challenges is to provide a reliable mix-design strategy to conceive a material that meets a requested set of performaces criteria. In addition, it is necessary a solid experimental investigation on full scale elements that proves that the new material is suitable for designing load-bearing structures. This chapter introduces the research on a particular shot-earth called “772” that is conceived as a structural material for compressed and bended structural elements.
