Carbon Emission Characteristics of Resource-Based Cities in China
Resource-based cities generally have high energy consumption, high carbon emission, and high pollution. Exploring low-carbon planning of resource-based cities means great significance for promoting the low-carbon transformation and development of resource-based cities and achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality. Based on China high-resolution emission grid data in 2012, the paper analyzes the carbon emission characteristics of resource-based cities based on the statistical yearbook data: The carbon emission per unit GDP and per capita of resource-based cities remain high; industrial energy carbon emission becomes the main source of carbon emission in resource-based cities; the carbon emission characteristics of the northeast, North China, East China, central China, South China, southwest and northwest regions in China are significantly different. Among them, North China is the most resource-dependent region, and energy activities and industrial energy activities produce the most carbon emission. Based on these, the targeted emission reduction strategies are proposed. The research can provide forward-looking, advanced, operational guidance and specific implementation paths for resource city's low-carbon transformation and development.
