Numerical Study of Pullout Capacity of Multi-edges Multiplate Horizontal Anchors in Sand
This research focuses on the application of ABAQUS to estimate the pullout load of multi-edged multiplate horizontal anchors implanted in sand. The length of the tie rod, its diameter, the vertical distance between the anchor plates, and the relative density of the sand were all variable. The findings of this study show that as the length and diameter of the tie rod grows, so does the pullout load. Furthermore, the increase in pullout load with respect to diameter is greater than the increase in tie rod length. The pullout load increases as the relative density of the sand increases. The results also show that multi-edge single plate anchors have a larger pullout load than single square plate anchors. In all circumstances, multi-edge multiplate anchors outperform square multiplate anchors in terms of pullout resistance. The pullout load increases as the distance between the anchor plates increases. The increased pullout load of multi-edged multiplate anchors not only provides a larger pullout load but also saves material in the anchor plate.
