Legal Framework for Environmental Protection in Mineral Processing Activities
Abstract Mineral processing causes considerable environmental pollution unless necessary environmental protection measures are taken, starting from the early stages of the project till post project activities. In this study, some examples of environmental effects of mineral processing are mentioned as case studies and legal framework, applicable in Turkey, for environmental protection is mentioned. A general evaluation of legal framework, along with the problems encountered in its application, is described. The importance of environmental impact assessment is stressed.
