Elevation Wave Velocity in a Trapezoidal Channel
A general solution is presented for elevation waves in a horizontal channel with a trapezoidal transverse cross-section. The procedural approach is based on the principles of the general theory of energy motion. Specific cases of the obtained solution are relations for rectangular and triangular cross-sections, as well as relations of simple form for waves of low height. The relation shows the dependence of the propagation velocity of long waves on the cross-sectional shape of the channel. The results agree completely with those obtained previously.
