Vulnerability of Buildings: From Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) to Seismic Analysis
Many historical urban centres in Europe are showing their fragility, particularly those located in seismic zones, because structures built in ancient times were not specifically conceived to resist earthquakes. Their vulnerability assessment implies a comprehensive knowledge of their construction procedure and history of transformations. There is a minimum level of knowledge intrinsically connected with the analysis to be performed. The object of the UNICAS module is related to the vulnerability assessment of historical and post-industrial buildings in Europe against different seismic hazards (shaking, liquefaction). Specific reference is made to Italian case studies, moving from the information modelling of heritage building (HBIM) to seismic assessment through the subsoil hazard.
