Quality of grouting in the diversion pressure tunnel of the Inguri hydroelectric station
Conclusions 1. Hydraulic and geophysical control works conducted after blanket grouting in the diversion pressure tunnel of the Inguri hydrostation showed a high quality of the grouted zone around the tunnel with respect to seepage and deformation characteristics. Such a conclusion is confirmed also by the experience of operating the tunnel for nine years and by an examination of its condition during planned emptyings. 2. The high-quality performance of the grouting works was provided by design and technological improvement of the methods during research and construction works. 3. As a result of grouting, the watertight properties of the grouted zone improved by 3.4 times in the weakly fractured rocks, by 6–8 times in the moderately fractured, and by 10–15 times in the strongly fractured rocks. The values of the coefficients of specific passive pressure of the rock exceeded by 20–30% their design values. The existing anisotropy of the deformation properties of the ungrouted rocks (1.4–1.6) has been minimized.
