An Experimental Study on Quarry Dust as Fine Aggregate in M50 Grade Concrete
Owing to the advanced evolution in the building industry, the requirement of river sand is not fulfilling the demand. River sand requirement is more in the top countries outstanding to the fast infrastructure improvement in railways, bridges, high-rise structures, roads, and building materials like light weight aggregates, blocks. Quarry dust was being suggested as a substitute for natural river sand, since it produces additional solidity to concrete and also improves strength in the concrete. The current research focuses on the experimental investigation on quarry dust in M50 grade mix concrete. The mechanical properties of concrete mixed with quarry dust as a fine aggregate were investigated in this paper. This research showed that natural river sand was substituted with quarry dust in a range of 0–100%. The compressive and tensile strength of the concrete increased when river sand was replaced with quarry dust. The findings of the tests concluded that using quarry dust as a fine aggregate with the inclusion of GGBS and Micro silica improves the strength of concrete.
