A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
TechnoLab™—Innovative Experiential Learning Platform for Mechanics and Dynamics
Abstract TechnoLab™ is an innovative and affordable desktop experiential learning platform, wholly designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia. Experiments developed in this system are targeted for classroom use in Practice Class/Tutorials sessions of Engineering Schools in subjects such as Statics, Mechanics of Solids/Materials/Structures, Introduction to Finite Element Modeling and Structural Dynamics. The system involves purpose-specific experiment kits designed to fit into a precision Aluminium alloy T-slot Pixi Frame™ approx. A3 in size. A Window Frame™, with graticule, when attached at the rear of the Pixi Frame facilitates recording deflection results of experiments by students working in pairs—enabling a true “hands-on” learning experience. Photogrammetry can be used should more precise investigations of deflection/deformation than provided by hand-held digital calipers or by the Window Frame graticule, be desired. This paper highlights some newly-developed experiment kits, now available for use on this teaching platform that the author believes are not offered/available from other suppliers of Engineering Teaching Apparatus.
