Mechanics of Hydraulic Fracturing
Hydraulic fracturing technology is the most important stimulation measure for oil and gas Wells, and is a typical deep rock engineering. This chapter first introduces the stimulation effect of fractured Wells, and then introduces the geometry and characterization of hydraulic fracturing fractures in vertical Wells, the elliptic linear fracture stress field and the calculation formula of fracture width. Then, the material conservation law of fluid flow in fracturing process and fracturing fluid loss experiment are introduced. The formulas of two classical fracturing models, PKN model and KGD model, are derived. Finally, the influencing factors of fracture propagation in the actual fracturing process are introduced.
