Modeling of landslide-generated surges
Conclusions 1. During physical modeling of wave regimes caused by landslides into a water body, it is necessary to preserve geometrical similarity of the final location of the landslide mass and kinematics of its movement into the pool. 2. If movement of the model of the landslide occurs only under the effect of gravity, its density is not equal to the density of the prototype material. 3. The velocity of the landslide on entering the water affects the wave height only in the water area adjacent to the head of the landslide, subsequently the height of the surge depends on the volume of the landslide. The effect of the density of the landslide on wave height is insignificant. 4. An increase of the volume of the landslide can promote a more rapid occurrence of the entire phenomenon as a whole and can reduce subsequent oscillations of the water in the pool.
