Energy and Emissions of Public and Commercial Buildings
The past two decades witnessed the rapid growth of public building stock in China from about 3.8 billion m2 in 2001 to about 14 billion m2 in 2020 (Fig. 3.1). In 2020, office and shopping mall, as main types of public and commercial buildings at the moment, had a proportion of 34 and 23% respectively, followed by school with a proportion of 16%, while hospital and hotel had a smaller proportion of 5 and 4% respectively.
