Non-Local Correlation and Point Transformations in Density Functional Theory
Abstract In spite of the impressive recent developments in computational facilities and of the extended use of computer in the treatment of quantum mechanical many body problems, the solution of Schrödinger’s equation for large systems containing hundreds of electrons and nuclei, still remains an almost impossible task. Such systems, however, do not represent exceptional examples but they correspond, rather, to everyday situations arising in solid state physics, material science, catalysis, molecular biology, etc.
