Experiences in operating hydromechanical and hydropower equipment for the XXII Congress CPSU Volga Hydroelectric Station
Conclusions 1. Turbine runner chambers manufactured from Mark St. 30 silicon steel are not cavitation-resistant, their repair requiring greater expenditure of labor and more frequent shut-down of the turbine. 2. Fish elevators of the double-shaft sluice type provide passage through the hydrocomplex on the average of 20–25 thousand fish of the sturgeon species per year. However, the effectiveness of this system has been insufficiently studied up to the present. 3. Operating experience has confirmed the reliability of reinforced-concrete gates for deep spillways and the advisability of their wider use. 4. Operating experience with improved hydrounits confirmed the advisability of new design solutions for separate assemblies and the high effectiveness of the forced air method of cooling the hydrogenerator.
