A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Discussion Forum Report: Bridging the Gap Between Macro- and Micro/Nanoscale Lubrication
Abstract A discussion forum was held to consider the main issues in bridging the gap between nano-, micro- and macro-scale lubrication. The emphasis of this third forum was on lubrication. The range of topics discussed was very broad, ranging from a lamentation of the lack of knowledge of basic lubrication principles by designers (and, indeed, whether this knowledge actually exists) to how to lubricate MEMs devices. Indeed, the wide and disparate range of topics of concern served to indicate the many bridges that need to be built between researchers working at the different scales of lubrication.
