Fibrinogen and Fibrin Studied by Small-Angle Neutron Scattering
Abstract The small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) technique has been used to study the structure of fibrinogen and fibrin. Fibrinogen has an elongated 50-nm-long open structure. Upon polymerization, long thin fibrin fibers are formed. The SANS data suggest that the fibrin fiber is like a 300-nm-diameter cable composed of 40-nm-diameter fibrin sub fibers.
