Simulated Performance Studies of Thin Film Perovskite Solar Cell
The present study aimed to develop a lead-based halide perovskite solar cell model by simulating different parameters like thickness, defect densities of absorbing layer, doping concentration of HTM (hole transport material), ETM (electron transport material) layer to optimize the efficiency of the solar cell. Our simulated perovskite solar cells have layer-by-layer architecture of ETM/perovskite/HTM, and their performances were simulated by Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator (SCAPS). In this paper, we have used TiO2 as an ETM, lead-based perovskite material CH3NH3PbI3 was used as a light-absorbing material, and copper thiocyanate as HTM. The thickness of the CH3NH3PbI3 layer varied from 0.2 to 0.6 μm. The absorber layer’s total defect density varied between 1014 and 1018 cm-3, and the doping concentration of ETM, HTM varied between 1014 and 1018 cm−3 for simulation purposes. Finally, the simulated performance of the solar cell was tested under AM 1.5G solar illumination using 1000 W/m2 irradiation as an external parameter. Furthermore, the simulated performance was recorded at elevated temperatures, and the photovoltaic parameters were analyzed. Optimized results resemble a power conversion efficiency (PCE) 20.18%, open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 1.309 V, short circuit current density (Jsc) 20.76 mA/Cm2, and fill factor FF 74.24% at 298 K.
