Energy Climate Security and Energy Supply Systems of the Building Stock
The article is devoted to the analysis of energy supply systems of the building stock in the context of energy and climate security. The main features of the current global climate change are considered. These changes are becoming critical, which requires the adaptation of energy systems in the building stock to new conditions. It is noted that the current global warming caused by the “enrichment” of the atmosphere with greenhouse gases is anthropogenic in nature and is largely due to the burning of fossil fuels. In other words, the problem of climate security is directly related to the state of energy, in particular, to the energy supply of the building stock and its security characteristics. The application of the concept of “energy and climate security” is proposed and its content is considered in the context of a wide range of interpretations of the term “security”. The main features of the EU energy policy in the building stock, which is aimed at achieving climate neutrality by the middle of the current century, are analyzed. The main directions and technologies related to energy and climate security of energy supply systems in the building stock are highlighted. At the same time, special attention is paid to the need to switch to energy-efficient decarbonized centralized and decentralized energy supply systems with the prospect of full electrification of heat supply systems. The great importance of further intensive development of energy storage systems in the diurnal and seasonal cycles.
