Aluminium Square Hollow Sections Under Cyclic Loading
This study presents the results of a first experimental program on SHS aluminum box beams subjected to cyclic actions. Different cross-section made of 6060 aluminum alloy, subject to incremental cyclic three-point bending tests were analyzed. For the first time, the cyclic response of this type of elements was analyzed. In addition, a finite element model was developed to calibrate those parameters necessary to describe the complete material behavior considering the effect of damage on the element stiffness.
Finally, the FE model was validated through direct comparison with experimental test results, demonstrating an excellent degree of prediction.
