The Environment for Accommodating Agents and Representing Urban Planning Conditions
In this chapter we will first illustrate a methodology for creating the environment as a hypothetical urban space in an ABM. The hypothetical urban space should be able to represent the typical urban forms, such as cluster urban form, Linear urban form, ring shape and star shape urban forms during planning practice. In the next we will also introduce how to allocate different land use parcels in the hypothetical urban space basing on the urban planning regulation rule of land use structure in China. Besides, a Household Distribution Flow (HDF) to hypothetical urban space will be designed and tested. The results will be a basis for modeling the agents’ behaviors affected by targeted urban planning policies. From this point, this chapter would be useful for the readers who concern how to design the environment of an ABM for analyzing urban planning policies.
