Abstract The aim of the chapter is describing Košice, city in east region of Slovakia. Its geographical features (location, relief, waters, climate and weather, air pollution, history) that affect this research. But also its history (Terasa, Juh and Železníky Nad Jazerom and Krásna, Luník IX, Dargovských hrdninov, KVP, Ťahanovce) for clear understanding of urbanism and city growth of Košice over years. The work presents its study area. The city was chosen as an example to show, how the method of implementing green roofs on the tops of the buildings can be used in other cities by taking the same steps as in this research.
