3D Numerical Analysis of Post-Grouted Piles
This paper presents a study of the effect of post-grouting on the behavior of bored piles using a case study carried out at the New Administrative Capital in EGYPT. The finite element analysis software Plaxis 3D is used to analyze the behavior of post-grouted piles. The analysis includes an assessment of improvement due to post-grouting by increasing the pile load-carrying capacity and decreasing the length of the pile to attain the same design capacity. In this research, the finite element method is used to simulate the effect of post-grouting at the pile tip. Improvements in the pile capacity are numerically examined by simulating the construction procedure in modeling post-grouted piles using Plaxis 3D. A parametric study is performed to study the behavior, analysis, and design of post-grouted piles. Results show that post-grouted piles with different parameters and soil conditions achieve noticeable improvement and an increase in pile capacity. Based on the numerical analysis, it is found that the use of grouting leads to an increase in the pile load-carrying capacity resulting from soil improvement at the pile tip.
