This chapter concludes with an overview of the adaptive reuse potential of inner-city modern movement car parking structures for controlled environment agriculture. To meet the planning criterion, the up-cycling scenario should include the mix of uses that contribute to the urban development goals in the social, economic and environmental sustainability domains. The architectural adaptive reuse criterion can be met when the architect rethinks the modularity and flexibility of layouts and parking bays as opportunities for designing units that can be multiplied within and upon a multi-storey structure. In addition, aesthetic improvement through the greening of the brutalist concrete structure and modernisation is needed. For meeting the environmental criterion, the future design scenario must include water-saving and recycling technologies, energy-efficient devices, alternative energy technology options and synergies between various uses of an accommodating building. Finally, the alterations that are required to inner-city car parking structures to accommodate controlled environment agriculture are determined and followed by limitations and recommendations for future studies.
