Reliability of Different Loads on Electro Hydrostatic Actuator
Abstract Electro Hydrostatic Actuators (EHA) is emerging as a viable option for industrial machine builders. The design combines the technologies of both electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems. The major applications are in aerospace, robotics and automation industry etc. EHA system is an emerging technology. Its objective is to replace a centralized hydraulic system by a self-contained and localized direct drive actuator system. EHA has become an important part of modern flight control systems because of its reduced leakage, increased energy efficiency and lower overall weight compared to conventional hydraulic systems. It is treated as a mechatronics system as it consists of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control systems. In this work dynamic response is considered as a output parameter of EHA. The different loads like 0.5 kg, 1 kg, 1.5 kg, 2 kg and 2.5 kg are input parameters. An experimental setup of EHA system for both asymmetric and symmetric actuator is developed with measuring instruments and sensors. This forms a mechatronics system. The performance evaluation of different loads on piston displacement has been studied using both experimental setups. It is found that minimum load gives the better response. This indicates that the reliability of both actuators is high at lower loads.
