Conclusions 1. Planning measures to increase the reliability and safety of hydraulic structures is closely related to reconstruction of hydro developments. 2. Reconstruction of hydro developments is a complex engineering problem which must be solved, as a rule, without complete stopping of the hydrostation for obtaining minimum losses of capacity and power generation while carefully preserving the historical and architectural value of the structures. 3. The need to increase the reliability and safety of hydraulic structures occurs, as a rule: due to geological reasons; due to the poor quality of construction works; due to the original savings of investments in the structure without consideration of local operating conditions.
