Analytical study of the reliability of rock slopes
Conclusions 1. The pattern of the limiting state of a rock slope, which was obtained by analytical means (according to the author's scheme whereby the stress-strainstate was computed, considering elastic-plastic deformations), agrees with that of the limiting state obtained on the slope model. 2. It is shown by a comparison of the results obtained for the stability of a rock slope with the results of computations performed in accordance with a number of familiar methods that these methods produce extremely limited and sometimes contradictory data on slope behavior. 3. To determine the reliability of rock slopes, it is expedient to take a more promising approach based on an analysis of the stress-strain state of the slope, which is computed with consideration given to elastic-plastic deformations.
