Evaluation of Response Variability of Euler–Bernoulli Beam Resting on Foundation Due to Randomness in Elastic Modulus
In general, with respect to the variability of material properties such as elastic modulus, structural analysis and design should be considered. In this study, the response variability of displacements of a beam resting on an elastic foundation is presented. It assumed that random process of elastic modulus is Gaussian random field in a spatial domain along the beam. A scheme of the stochastic finite element method (SFEM) is employed to compute the mean and standard deviation of displacement fields. The accuracy of the present approach is checked by using Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS).
