This chapter utilizes the DPSIR framework to provide an overview of the urban river changes as well as the causes and impacts related to humans, on the regional scale of nine cities in the PRD region. The existing spatial differences are identified and evaluated, based on which three typical cities of Shenzhen, Foshan, Zhaoqing are selected to further analyze the urban river management in the next chapter.
