Assessment of Energy and Resource Efficiency Through Sustainable Planning, Construction, and Operation Using Building Information Modeling (BIM)
This article examines the significance of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for sustainable planning, construction, and operation of buildings and infrastructures. The focus is on evaluating energy and resource efficiency through the use of BIM to reduce CO2 emissions and promote sustainability in the construction sector. The article addresses both the building construction sector and the energy sector, particularly the expansion of grid infrastructure in civil engineering. Despite the potential benefits, these sectors face significant challenges, including the integration of recycled materials and the introduction of digital building logbooks, as required by the EU Circular Economy Action Plan and EU taxonomy. This article highlights the existing barriers and opportunities in the implementation of BIM-driven projects and provides an outlook on necessary measures to achieve sustainability goals.
