    Multicriteria Optimization of Elasto-Plastic Bar Structures

    Abstract The paper deals with multicriteria optimization of bar structures with regard to the cost of material and reliability criteria. It is assumed that structure can be in two states-failure and safe state. Failure event is defined as a mechanism formation. Due to the complexity of reliability calculation, failure tree approach is applied [10]. The set of compromise solutions obtained from the first stage of multicriteria optimization process constraints the area of possible choice of the preferable design, which is done during the second stage of optimization process. One, or a few preferable solutions can be used for further investigation by means of more accurate methods of reliability evaluation. One example of truss structure optimization is presented.
