The initiative titled “Promoting Sustainable Environment Conservation and Women Empowerment Through Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM)” in Berhampur, India, started in 2017 and was completed by the end of 2020. The thematic sustainability areas the project focuses on are ‘social’, ‘economic’, ‘environmental’, and ‘governance/management’. The main goal of the project is to promote gender-inclusive sanitation through faecal sludge and septage management. The project’s main source of prosperity comes from industry and services at 73% of the total budget.
