Deflection-based load transfer efficiency of Floating Slab Track
Abstract Recently many railway stations have been built under the railway line in urban areas. The passage of railway vehicles generates mechanical vibrations in a wide frequency range. A structural vibration isolation system has been proposed to reduce vibration and noise originating from surrounding environments. The slab track system on elastometric bearings is called the Floating Slab Track (FST). In the FST system dowel bars or plates are installed to minimize the discontinuity of displacement between adjacent floating slab tracks. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of dowel joints on the Load Transfer Efficiency (LTE) of the FST. FSTs with different materials and types of dowel joint were tested and analyzed to evaluate the LTE of each system. A finite element model including shear springs between adjacent slabs was proposed as a part of this study, and the accuracy of the proposed model was verified against test results.
