A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Abstract. Though many geometric shapes can be constructed from circles, this paper is about the geometric square. It will be demonstrated that while the square is not the easiest of the polygons to construct initially, it is both easily enlarged and easily subdivided. Step-by-step manipulations of the square provide an explanation for the architectural design of the Forum of Augustus.
