Urban Spatial Structure Adaptive to Drought-Flood Coexistence (DFC) in Ninh Thuan Province, Vietnam
Among the natural disasters caused by Climate Change (CC), drought and flood have emerged and coexisted in the centre of Vietnam, especially in the cities of Ninh Thuan Province. However, the investigation of the provincial cities shows that their spatial structure has changed over time and has caused many contradictions with the natural conditions, particularly with the current drought and flood. This study covers four sections, which aim to restructure urban spaces to be more adaptive to Drought-Flood Coexistence (DFC). The first section introduces general information about the study. The second one reviews the relevant concepts and introduces the context of Ninh Thuan province. The third states the study methodology and methods. The specific attention of the paper, presented in the fourth part, is to propose the Ninh Thuan urban spatial structure adaptive to DFC based on the analysis of the transformation of urban spatial structure in Ninh Thuan province in correlation with the ES map of DFC and over time. The study concludes in the fifth with a suggestion that urban spatial structure could be more adaptive to the DFC once taking advantage of and benefits of the ES.
