Pressure of standing waves on sluice gates of weirs
Conclusions 1. Investigations on a 1:20 scale model of the wave pressure on the sluice gate of a weir revealed the character of the flow over the gate in the case of a frontal approach of a wave and permitted proposing a method for determining the design load. 2. The value of the wave pressure on the gate can amount to as much as 50% of the hydrostatic pressure and should be summed with it when calculating gate structures.
