Pavement Performance Evaluation of Rehabilitation Treatments
Infrastructure decays over time, with numerous factors affecting how infrastructure is ultimately able to provide its intended service. There are multiple alternatives to repair decayed pavements, and to make an informed selection of rehabilitation treatments; it is necessary to evaluate their performance in the field. Survey data like roughness and rut depth are considered to be relatively accurate and reliable measurements of pavement performance which may be used to assess the rehabilitation treatments currently being used and may point to underlying issues at specific sections. This paper uses these measures collected by the Automatic Road Analyzer (ARAN) on one-lift mill and overlay treatments applied between 2014 and 2019 on four different selected highway sections of the Nova Scotia’s 100-series highway network. The results show that rutting and roughness deterioration curves can be used to estimate the relative efficiency and effectiveness of the rehabilitation treatment.
