Direct Finite Element Kinematical Approaches in Limit and Shakedown Analysis of Shells and Elbows
Abstract Theoretical and numerical methods of limit and shakedown analysis are presented for the applications to shell and pipe structures under mechanical and thermal loading. The kinematical theorem and its numerical implementation are developed. A method of simplified shakedown analysis is proposed. The numerical results for shell and pipe structures are compared with theoretical predictions.
