Research on Initial Force Determination and Mechanical Behaviors of Crossed Spoke Cable-Truss Structure
As the lateral stiffness of ordinary spoke cable-truss structures is weak, a novel crossed spoke cable-truss structure (CSCTS) is proposed based on the solid lateral stiffness of the annular crossed cable-truss structure. CSCTS enhances the lateral stiffness of ordinary spoke cable-truss structures. Based on the novel CSCTS, the paper first studies the initial force determination of CSCTS, including structural shape determination and self-stress mode solution. Then, a CSCTS is designed by the proposed initial force determination way, and its basic static and modal analysis are systematically studied under different working conditions. Study results show that the proposed initial force determination way can obtain the reasonable structural shape and self-stress mode of CSCTS. Its basic static and modal behaviors are better under full-span uniform loads and half-span asymmetry loads, but CSCTS is more sensitive to half-span asymmetry loads. Research contents of the paper can support some meaningful references for a designer and promote the application of CSCTS in practical projects.
