A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Cultural Sustainability in the Architecture Program of Libraries - Sarajevo Case Study

Agendas for sustainable development are beginning to place a greater emphasis on cultural sustainability. Since human culture has a significant impact on our daily lives, culture and sustainability ought to be considered together. If we can leverage creativity as a powerful instrument to steer our sustainable growth, we can ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. Social and cultural cohesiveness can be strongly encouraged by architectural programs and structures. Libraries serve as community centers by promoting access to a wide range of information resources through their programs. The authors of this research evaluate the potential for libraries to support cultural sustainability. It will be demonstrated through a case study of the University of Sarajevo campus and library development how access to culture and knowledge may lead to better social outcomes. This kind of project might propel Sarajevo—a city with a dynamic history and development path—in the direction of social cohesion and equitable access to education, information, and various cultural programs.
