Ethylene-Propylene Rubber
Abstract Ethylene-propylene rubber—EPM and/or EPDM—was first introduced in the United States in limited commercial quantities in 1962. Though commercial production began only in 1963, EPM/EPDM rubber is now the fastest growing elastomer (ca. 6% per year), and there are presently five manufacturers in the United States, four in Europe, and three in Japan. The reasons for its rapid growth are its excellent properties, especially in an ozone environment, and its ability to be highly extended.
