Particularities of Moldavian Wood Heritage
Wood represents one of the traditional materials used in construction. Along the years unique wood constructions were built all around the world, some of which are now included in the international wood heritage. However, several challenges appeared along the year when searching for rehabilitation solution, but now international restrictions are given in order to protect and consolidate structures made of wood. The article presents some of the fundamental rehabilitation principles according to ICOMOS used in the rehabilitation and conservation process, as well as a synthesis of possible decay factors common to wood structures.
The second part of the paper focuses on the Romanian wood heritage, shortly presenting some of its particularities and a case study. The case study makes a damage inventory on the church from Draguseni and proposes adequate rehabilitation solutions in accordance with current restrictions for heritage structures.
