A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Modern building cannot benefit from detached research findings, no matter how numerous they may be. They must be connected to constitute an expanding body of coherent knowledge. To accomplish this, we must first agree on the structure of a general architectural theory.
In architectural research there are several alternative approaches. The synthesis from the discrete approaches to the general theory is effected by combining sub-theories that deal with a specific architectural goal.
Each sub-theory operates with a set of architectural dimensions that can be classified into levels, of which the subjective goals level is one. Besides, there is the objectively measurable level of elementary dimensions, and a mediating level. Classification improves the clarity of the theory, and provides connecting points between the sub-theories.
