A study was undertaken to analyze the causes of the settlements of a freight railway platform. First, the homogeneity of the site was described with a statistical approach, then settlements calculations with and without ground reinforcement were carried out using Monte-Carlo simulations. These two methods show the interest of taking into account the variability of the soils for a better estimation of the geotechnical risks.
