Traffic satisfaction in the conurbations
The purpose of this study, prepared for the British Road Federation, was to compare the traffic satisfaction levels that are implicit in the transport plans of the major U.K. conurbations. Comparisons were made between conurbations for a number of measures of traffic satisfaction, including trip generation by purpose, car usage and public transport ridership. Where traffic restraint is planned an assessment was made of the geographical areas and journey purposes affected.
The study was concerned with the Greater London, West Midlands, South East Lancashire and North East Cheshire (SELNEC), Merseyside, West Yoikshire, Tyneside and Clydeside conurbations. In addition, comparisons were made with large U.S. cities.
