VISCOSITY AND SURFACE TENSION EFFECTS ON RECTANGULAR WEIRS
On account of viscosity and surface tension effects the discharge equation for flow over a rectangular sharp crested weir loses its significance at low heads. The low head discharge prediction methods in usage are based on multiplying correction factors which are either dimensionally inhomogeneous, or have to be obtained from a graph which makes them unsuitable for analytical purposes. Presented herein is a high accuracy dimensionally homogeneous weir discharge coefficient equation incorporating viscosity and surface tension effects.
