A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The social knowledge industry has defined a method of problem solving that Lindblom and Cohen have called ‘professional social inquiry’ (PSI). These writers have claimed that some problem solvers have become so absorbed by PSI that they have forgotten other methods of problem solving. Furthermore these other methods are ones which are in common use. Using an urban planning context, this article critically examines the stance taken by Lindblom and Cohen.
