Time Savings of Energy Consumption Using Bioclimatic Architecture
The present paper exposes partial results of a research project, supported by the Universidad National de San Juan, about the application of the urban climatic values of San Juan city (Argentina) to the determination of Bioclimatic Strategies to be considered in the architectural design, in order to obtain a whole exploitation of the natural energies for the hygrothermic conditioning of buildings. The work focuses this theme from the time savings of energy consumption point of view through the application of Bioclimatic Design guidelines. Temperature and Relative Humidity determine the hygrothermic human comfort and for this reason are analyzed both for winter and summer, seasons that require more specific strategies of thermal conditioning due to their extreme environmental conditions.
The energy savings are established in a qualitative way, expressed by hours of conventional energy consumption when bioclimatic design guidelines are applied on buildings placed in the Urban Area and the Non Urban Area of San Juan city. The quantitative results are referred to the percentile comparative savings between a building designed with bioclimatic guidelines with respect to another designed without considering those guidelines.
The work has the endorsement of 4 institutions of the Province engaged with the urban planning and the architectural design to which the results will be transferred at a short-term.
